Microdermabrasion: New Service FAQs

I have introduced microdermabrasion to my services because it is helpful in treating a variety of skin issues.  Like all my treatments at Glow Esthetics, it is customized to the client’s needs.  I will always do an analysis of your skin and lifestyle to see if this treatment is right for you right now.  I have tons of information on these treatments and if you are curious please call me and I would love to make this information personal to you!

Below are some frequently asked questions to get you started:

Q:What Is Microdermabrasion?

A: Microdermabrasion is a facial procedure that uses topical and manual exfoliation to remove the outer layer of skin. This process works in a series to reduce hyperpigmentation, wrinkles, and acne scars through exfoliation. The client will leave the treatment with fresh and smooth skin, which will begin to repair and rejuvenate itself to treat a numberof skin concerns.

Q:What Will Microdermabrasion Do?

A: Overall, microdermabrasion will reduce the appearance of wrinkles, remove acne scars, clear up blackheads, minimizethe size of the pores, reduce sun damage, and even out the skin tone.  Microdermabrasion also helps to boost collagen production to provide firming and toning to the complexion.

Q:Is There Any Downtime After a Treatment?

A: Microdermabrasionis a safe and gentle procedure with no downtime. The client will need to protect his or her skin with moisturizer and sunblock for 24 hours after the treatment and may experience mild redness and peeling. However, the client can return to work immediately, which is why many clients prefer to have microdermabrasion treatments on their lunch breaks since there is no downtime.

Q:How Many Treatments Do I Need?

A: When it comes to microdermabrasion, one treatment will not provide instant results.  That is why it is important to have a series of microdermabrasions, and 4 to 6 are recommended for the best results. These initial 4 to 6 treatments can be spaced one week apart, and from that point, the client can continue to receive one treatment on a monthly basis for the best maintenance

April 2012- Walk a Mile in Her Shoes

soothing foot massage

Dawn Marie Klug facebook photo

I suppose this is old news by now, but I wanted to share some pictures from the Walk a Mile in Her Shoes Awareness Walk.  This event was in April and raised $20,000 for Our Voice, the Asheville women’s rape crisis and counsoling center.  And it was really a light hearted way to bring awareness to domestic violence.  I was there and saw how many MEN and women were willing to sling on a pair of stilettos and walk (or run) a mile around Downtown.  I volunteered an act of support to the walkers by giving a free foot rub at the finish line.  volunteer for Our Voice Walk a Mile in Her ShoesIt was the least I can do.  I want to recruit more estheticians and massage therapists to join me next year so we can support the 500 people who came out and walked!

Getting to know each other

One thing I’ve realized in my time studying the skin and being an esthetician is that everyone is different.  You can certainly categorize different skin conditions, but everyone has a different set of intrinsic and extrinsic factors that are impacting the skin.  I have found my greatest ability to deliver results in clients who I get to know.  I don’t have to know your dog’s name and your dress size… but if I know you hike with that dog every weekend and you have a weakness for mocha lattes I can tell a lot more about how successful your treatments will be.  My suggestion is to open up to your skin therapist.    If you are really interested and vested in a healthy complexion there is more than purchasing a new bottle of creme on your to do list.  Get an esthetician who you like and get to know each other.  You may be surprised on how opening up the conversation can lead to great suggestions on a holistic level.  We estheticians are professionals who can and want to help our clients.

New Services: Mini treatments, Back facials, and Microdermabrasion

The season of Spring brings change and rebirth to life all around us.  I have harnessed that  power to bring new treatments to my clients at Glow Esthetics.

I’v added new 30 minute targeted treatments.  This is for people who are crunched for time but wish to keep up their skin maintenance ritual.  Also, ideal for clients whose skin condition may not necessitate a 60 minute facial because of sensitivities.

Back facials deliver the results from using organic herbal products to make the skin on your back glow.  When was the last time you thoroughly cared for your skin back there?

For clients wanting a non-invasive skin resurfacing alternative that treats an avast range of complexion imperfections. Come and talk with me about a series of Microdermabrasion treatments.
